The representatives of the University of Lagos students’ Union (ULSU) were summoned to
have a discussion with the management yesterday.
We got there yesterday and to our greatest surprise, it turned out to be a panel.
According to those that constituted the panel, it was set-up to listen to the stand of ULSU concerning the protest: our plights, resolutions and how we can come to terms with management.
The panel also said it is part of its duties to give feedback to the University Senate and advice them on how to come to a resolution between both parties.
The panel commenced at about 2PM and was on till late last night. We have made our stand known:
1. We want the students back in school in no time
2. We want management to pay more attention towards the welfare of students.
3. We want the issues that resulted in the protest to be visited and resolved.
The panel is to make further consultations today and then make recommendations to the University Senate which is the highest decision making body in the University.
We hereby assure the students that you all will be back to school in no time. We are pulling every string to see that everything gets resolved as the education and welfare of the students remains paramount to ULSU.
