So many should be aware of the man who speaks to the invisible in
Unilag. With a neat shirt, tie, pants and a shoe, he lectures his imaginary students.
For some time, I tried getting the courage to approach him. But as so many know, when you move with a mad man you also become one. This time I couldn’t let the opportunity pass me by. After contemplating for a while, I summoned the courage to approach him. With the help of a friend, I climbed out to meet him.
The venue was the front of Art Theater. He held a small note and began pointing to the empty air. “The government will arrange the account of them and schedule a specific amount. The documents are to be kept for the purpose of…” Those were some of the statements I could produce from him. I tried hard to decipher those words. He paused for some moments to answer imaginary questions. It felt as though other beings except myself were there with him.
A friend joined me and he faced us abruptly. “Any questions?” He asked in a calm voice. I shook my head and knew it was time to leave. With a wave of my hand, I left the premise. How he got to that condition? I know not. All I can guess is he might have had a dream of becoming a lecturer or might have read so much that he became what he is; the lecturer who speaks to the invisible.
